Description

• Join a cross-functional team of data scientists, analysts, engineers, product managers, and designers. • Guide technical development of next-gen algorithms to improve the Airbnb marketplace for guests and hosts. • Develop algorithms to help millions of new and existing hosts find prices that work for them. • Partner with product, engineering, and design leaders for algorithm implementation and innovation. • Design and evaluate pricing algorithms using state-of-the-art causal machine learning and/or reinforcement learning techniques. • Write model specifications and scientific documents for effective communication with stakeholders. • Advance the state-of-the-art for applied causal machine learning within Airbnb.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (PhD or Masters) in Computer Science, Data Science, Econometrics, Statistics, or a related field. • 9+ years of relevant industry experience (6+ with a PhD). Domain experience in pricing or promotions preferred but not required. • Hands-on ‘builder’ experience in causal machine learning problems. Expert understanding of causal machine learning and reinforcement learning algorithms is a plus. • Strong programming (Python / Scala / Java / C++ or equivalent) skills. Experience with ML technologies such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Spark, Airflow • Proven ability to communicate effectively with audiences of varying technical knowledge and seniority (up to Director). • Prior experience in multi-sided marketplaces is preferred.
