Allied Talent Partners is a talent marketplace, connecting experienced professionals with climate-related projects and businesses in Africa. • The client is an advisory firm that unlocks capital for sustainable growth in underserved markets, focusing on clean energy access and nature-based solutions. • They are seeking a Legal Consultant with expertise in energy projects to provide interim support on key legal matters while the current Senior Projects Lawyer is on maternity leave. • This role will involve advising on energy access and infrastructure projects across Africa, with a focus on drafting and reviewing power purchase agreements, as well as public-private partnership documentation.

Requirements

Minimum of five years’ experience in energy projects, with a strong focus on PPAs, PPPs, and project finance • Preferable experience with independent power producers (IPP); experience with EPC or O&M contractors is also valuable • Background in law firm practice and/or in-house legal departments is desired • Skilled in drafting and negotiating project documents with a focus on compliance across multiple countries • Proficient in structuring projects, assigning risks, and handling emerging market challenges • Familiar with legal aspects of infrastructure projects, project finance, and off-take agreements • Strong communication and negotiation skills • Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and provide strategic legal advice • High attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and managing risks • Experience with energy access initiatives and a focus on emerging market challenges.

Benefits

Preferred candidates located in Cape Town or Nairobi, with flexibility for candidates based elsewhere in Africa. • Capacity to work part-time initially, transitioning to a full-time commitment from January to May • Required start date: Mid-November • Contracting period: Part-time (15 hours per week) from mid-November to December; full-time from January through May. • Budget : TBC
