•This is a full time, 1.0 FTE position. Shifts will be scheduled Monday through Friday with a flexible start time. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. •Help coach and lead future inpatient coders at UW Health. •Coordinate and supervise hiring, training, and development of new inpatient coders in our new Inpatient Coding Apprentice Program. •Develop internal training curriculum, materials and evaluations for coding apprentices. •Work with coding apprentices in group sessions and in one-to-one in virtual sessions over the course of the apprentice cohort (1-2 years).
•Minimum – Associate degree in Health Information Management (HIM) •Preferred – Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management (HIM) •Minimum – Five (5) years of progressive acute care hospital inpatient coding experience •Experience with performing coding quality reviews/audits and analysis •Preferred – More than five (5) years of inpatient coding experience in an academic medical center. •Instructional experience in a classroom setting (in-person or virtual) •Supervisory experience in a coding setting •Minimum – AHIMA Certification: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) •Preferred – Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) with a CCS credential and ‘AHIMA ICD-10-CM/PCS Train the Trainer certification’
