📋 Description

• Principal Engineer in the Core Engineering team at Atlassian, responsible for architectural decisions and mentoring engineers. • Driving initiatives for a Kubernetes platform for deployment and operations of Atlassian products. • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and defining technical direction for Compute Platform team. • Evaluating and enhancing platform capabilities with new cloud native technologies. • Ensuring operational excellence and continuous improvement of systems and processes.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong technical expertise and 10+ years experience in designing/building enterprise grade public cloud or platform as a service solutions. • Deep understanding of cloud computing, Container Orchestration tools like Kubernetes/Mesos/Swarm, microservices architecture, and container orchestration technologies. • Experience building and operating large scale distributed systems using cloud technologies from AWS/Azure/GCP. • Focus on business outcomes and the 80/20 rule; very high bar for output quality, but recognise the business benefit of 'ship small, ship fast and iterate’ vs ‘building for perfection’. • Passion for engineering rigor and operational excellence (design principles and patterns, unit testing, best practices for security and privacy, CI/CD etc). • Excellent collaboration, communication and leadership skills. • Ability to get engineers to follow their lead as well as mentor/coach. • Hands-on experience with managing Kubernetes clusters, preferably building Kubernetes Operators, Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs) and Controllers. • Significant experience in Multi-tenant SaaS infrastructure. • Experience with load balancing, scaling strategies, and performance and cost optimization in a cloud environment.
