Description

• Design and implement database schemas, partitioning schemes, and collaborate with the development team to integrate them into applications. • Lead the effort to ensure database security, integrity, and performance through effective management and proactive measures. • Develop and optimize MYSQL queries, implement clustering, replication, and partitioning to enhance system reliability. • Review performance metrics and address any issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency. • Participate actively in daily scrums and sprint planning, contributing your expertise to drive projects forward. • Swiftly respond to and resolve critical database issues. • Handle ticket escalations from support teams, including SysAdmins, providing expert guidance and solutions to complex problems. • Perform database backups and restorations as needed, ensuring data recovery processes are efficient and reliable.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in a data and engineering related position. • At least 5 years of experience as a DBA, with deep expertise in MYSQL and relational database modeling. • Proficiency in Linux (moving to Ubuntu) and experience in mission-critical environments requiring 24/7 uptime. • Familiarity with RedHat, Postgres, and Oracle is strongly preferred. • Proven track record in building and maintaining DEV, QA, PROD, and Disaster Recovery environments. • Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as AWS or OpenStack. • Strong communication skills, with the ability to coach and mentor team members and collaborate across departments. • Experience in an agile environment and/or telecommunications is a plus.
