Description

• Lead and shape the organization's accounting operations • Develop and execute comprehensive financial controls and procedures • Work closely with executive-level and program staff to maintain accurate financial records • Ensure compliance with GAAP and federal grant requirements • Develop and implement accounting processes • Perform core accounting tasks and manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries • Oversee monthly and year-end close processes, financial statements, and supporting documentation • Reconcile bank statements, balance sheet accounts, and other financial records • Prepare and present financial reports • Conduct variance analysis and recommend optimizations • Support funding requests with financial analyses • Manage project and grant accounting and budgetary cycle

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field • 5+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting within a nonprofit • 2+ years of experience with federal grants • In-depth understanding of GAAP, nonprofit accounting principles, and compliance requirements • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated experience in communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board or other outside partners • Ability to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers • Passion for clean energy and a commitment to advancing sustainability and environmental stewardship
