• Join the Cleveland Clinic team where you will work alongside passionate caregivers and provide patient-first healthcare. • You will receive endless support and appreciation and build a rewarding career with one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the world. • As a Principal Research Engineer, you will perform routine engineering investigations in support of current research or product development efforts using engineering software analysis tools, • prepare design sketches or drawings, assist with the design, development, and evaluation of prototype medical devices and perform other duties. • Assume responsibility for the planning, organizing, directing and coordinating of a wide variety of complex program initiatives. • Conduct continuing studies and analyses to determine the feasibility of various advanced engineering approaches to define concepts and criteria for further programs or to resolve major problems in current programs. • Lead in the development of prototypes, medical devices, equipment or software. • Assign components of the project initiatives to other engineers, technicians and designers and oversee the work. • Collaborate with other engineers/investigators on major changes in project initiatives as they relate to other assignments, funds and priorities. • Prepare cost estimates and monitor expenditures. • Provide recommendations on the purchase of new equipment.
• Bachelor of Science in biomedical, mechanical or electrical engineering or a related field • Six years of directly related experience • A Master’s Degree and four years of experience may substitute the experience requirement • Perform work in a stationary position for extended periods • Operate a computer and other office equipment • Communicate and exchange accurate information • Ability to distinguish color • Manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment • Ability to lift and transport equipment or specimens weighing up to 20 pounds • Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals, bio-hazards, radioactive materials, etc. • Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
