• Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of? • At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. • To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. • Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. • At the forefront of safeguarding digital assets in the financial landscape, Coinbase is a global leader in managing an unprecedented volume of digital currency. • As a Security Engineer, you will assume a pivotal role in orchestrating and leading our security team. • You will partner with cross functional business units to ensure they deliver tools and services that align with our mission to bolster our security infrastructure. • Design, develop and integrate secure hardware and software solutions to generate digital material. • Define & contribute to security requirements for hardware and software design. • Drive and perform hands-on operations within a highly secure environment. • Conducting comprehensive risk assessments, threat modeling, and vulnerability analyses. • Optimize security protocols. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security features. • Oversee the implementation of security solutions. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives. • Build new services to meet critical product and business needs. • Design scalable systems to solve novel problems. • Articulate a long term vision for maintaining and scaling our backend systems. • Work with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to turn our vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in engineering roles with a focus on cybersecurity, systems security, or network security. • Profound expertise in designing and implementing robust security architectures and protocols. • Demonstrated leadership in conducting risk assessments, threat modeling, and vulnerability analyses. • Strong knowledge of compliance standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices in cybersecurity. • Strong knowledge of cryptography and public key infrastructure • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to embed security into the development lifecycle. • Proficiency in managing and optimizing security technologies and tools. • Excellent leadership and communication skills to inspire and guide a team toward security excellence. • You’ve worked with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB or DynamoDB. • You’ve built financial, high reliability or security systems. • Understanding of TCP/IP, UDP or similar networking protocols. Experience with network design of complex distributed systems • Ability to travel to our office in Dublin, Ireland as needed.
