β’ Supports design of large-scale capital projects for Curtin Maritime. β’ Performs design engineering activities under Project Manager supervision. β’ Develops and reviews mechanical and piping system diagrams. β’ Creates or reviews calculations. β’ Solicits technical information and quotes from vendors or suppliers. β’ Writes and reviews technical specifications. β’ Develops testing criteria for successful system installations. β’ Corresponds with regulatory bodies such as USCG and ABS. β’ Verifies installation of systems at shipyards. β’ Develops templates and project standards. β’ Automates redundant tasks and activities.
β’ A four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience. β’ One (1) to three (3) years or more of relevant work experience. β’ Experience designing mechanical, piping, hydraulic, and electrical systems. β’ Ability to communicate clearly and concisely. β’ Good electronic file organizational skills. β’ Excellent problem-solving skills. β’ Self-starter who can anticipate future assignments and prepare for them. β’ Ability to juggle multiple assignments with demanding schedules. β’ A positive outlook, professional demeanor, and adaptive personality. β’ Ability to climb ladders, pass through structural access hatches, and maneuver in tight spaces. β’ Must be able to visually inspect structural, mechanical, piping, and electrical system installations. β’ Operate electronic equipment such as cameras, laptop computers, and test equipment during the course of inspections, troubleshooting, and site visits. β’ Ability to enter construction areas and machinery spaces while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
