Description

• As a Data Scientist at Deciphex you will work in a fast paced environment with a collaborative team developing and validating cutting edge algorithms, and will work closely with the manager and team members to procure, transfer, prepare, maintain, collate, analyze, and manipulate various large datasets. • You will work on management and orchestration of data collection and offer recommendations to the AI team on evaluating these datasets. • As a Data Scientist you will work with the research team and AI team members to identify and prioritize actionable, high-impact insights across different datasets. • You will personally interact with data repositories to pull continuous statistical insights from the data, and work directly with AI Engineers to optimize classifier development workflow. • Also develop validation routines and workflow components for machine learning models. • You will develop processes and workflows that allow a model to be validated quickly and robustly based on statistically validated qualification routines. • You will be required to systematically report on the progress routinely and will need to be able to adapt quickly to changing requirements.

Requirements

• Degree in an analytical field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Data Science), proven experience in statistical programming • At least 3 years experience in a similar role • Proven ability to analyse and understand complex data for the creation of business value • To be focused with a sense of urgency and immediate impact • To be coachable and have a passion for research and delivering results under tough conditions • Able to work independently and as part of a team with business impact and product needs in mind • Possess sound communication skills to address issues quickly & comprehensively with internal & external parties • Must be self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take ownership • Must be effective at time management and personal organization / planning • Confidence in using at least one of Statistical Computing Languages (e.g. C, Java, Python, SQL). • Hands-on experience analyzing and interpreting data, drawing conclusions, defining recommended actions, and reporting results across stakeholders • Ability to perform descriptive and inferential statistics, including regression analyses, and sample size calculations • Ability to understand machine learning models and being able to qualify model performance • Understand latest trends in machine learning and validation approaches • Comfortable with reading scientific publications • Experience using visualization techniques in Tableau, Power BI, Excel, or with a programming language (e.g., R or Python). • Ability to import/export data into or from various formats into standard statistical software • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills • Ability to work both independently and with a team as well as the ability to manage up • Experience with image processing techniques is desirable • Understanding of the basic principles of pathology and digital pathology is a plus
