β€’ The Assistant Project Manager directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organizing, controlling, integrating, and completing utility projects within an area of assigned responsibility β€’ Responsible for working with a project team to coordinate project tasks β€’ Assist with maintaining project workflow, utilize database software to administer information by updating project status, manage electronic project documents, have good communication skills, and meet client expectations β€’ Maintain positive relationships with clients and public agencies, prepares and reviews biological documentation, develops project budgets and schedules, prepares proposals, and manages contract compliance β€’ Work directly with clients and regulatory agencies to oversee project compliance with biological mitigation measures and with federal, state, and local regulations β€’ Conduct natural resource surveys, biological monitoring (as necessary), field team management, and providing specialized site assessments β€’ Biological monitoring duties require in-field decision-making as well as oral and written communication skills β€’ Maintain confidentiality at all times β€’ Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs β€’ Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops

Requirements

β€’ BS or MS in environmental planning, biology, ecology, wetland science, avian or mammal studies, or a similar field β€’ 3 years of professional experience as a biologist (or equivalent) is preferred in California, with experience pertaining to a specialized biological training or field β€’ Knowledge of current environmental regulations, including FESA and CEQA, is preferred β€’ Experience and training in specialized fields (environmental planning or technical science, e.g., botany, wildlife biology, fisheries, wetland ecology, etc.) β€’ Proven abilities in being detail-oriented and technical writing β€’ Experience conducting field surveys and/or construction monitoring β€’ Knowledge of the flora/fauna of Southern California is preferred β€’ Ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines and maintain a positive outlook β€’ Proven leadership skills; identifies problems and actively devises appropriate solutions β€’ Strong written and verbal communication skills (project descriptions) β€’ Assist with the management of sub-consultants and agreements β€’ Strong organizational and management skills β€’ Ability to work well with and mentor others, to set expectations and to provide input and feedback in a helpful way that fosters accountability β€’ Ability to actively delegate and communicate in a group-oriented setting and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and leaders β€’ Flexibility to adapt to changing document directives and deadlines β€’ Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite β€’ Knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, etc.) β€’ Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to present to supervisors β€’ Organizational skills and attention to detail
