β€’ Use research insights to shape product direction: Influence product and engineering roadmaps through presentation of research insights, experimental results, and model performance metrics. β€’ Optimization algorithms formulation & research: Tackle complex scientific & operations research problems by researching published academic literature, surveying industry techniques & intuition, and executing hands-on experimental testing & modeling. β€’ Energy market analytics: Develop models and tools to analyze the behavior of electricity markets, including power prices, ancillary services dispatch, grid network models, transmission outages & constraints, and optimal power flows.

Requirements

β€’ Passion for clean energy and fighting climate change β€’ An advanced degree in computer science, operations research, electrical engineering, power systems, or related quantitative discipline β€’ 4+ years experience in the electricity & energy domain (e.g. power systems modeling, power flow, security constrained unit commitment, economic dispatch etc) β€’ 3+ years experience with python and/or julia, and the supporting science tool suite (e.g. numpy, scipy, pandas, JuMP, etc) β€’ Experience with optimization techniques (e.g. stochastic optimization, robust optimization) β€’ Experience with optimization modeling packages and solvers β€’ Experience communicating mathematical concepts, analytical results, and data-driven insights to both technical and non-technical audiences β€’ A collaboration-first mentality, with a willingness to teach as well as learn from others β€’ Demonstrated experience with developing and releasing operational optimization models in the electricity and energy domain β€’ Experience with various US energy markets, including PJM, ERCOT, SPP, MISO, NYISO, ISO-NE, and CAISO β€’ Experience with forecasting & time series problems β€’ Experience with database technologies and sql β€’ Experience with data visualization and dashboarding technologies (e.g. plot.ly Dash, Streamlit) β€’ Experience leading and mentoring a team of scientists β€’ Demonstrated track record of academic paper or social media publication
