• You will report directly to the Project Manager in our Subject Matter Expert role. • Collaborating cross-functionally, you will partner with other project team members including Instructional Designers, to create and deliver an innovative and personalized learning experience. • As a Subject Matter Expert you will assist Instructional Designers in developing interactive course activities for a Mechanical Engineering course according to requirements presented in a client provided style guide. • Subject matter experts are responsible for: • Writing all course content in approved templates • Applying vision and goals communicated by the client • Working with a learning designer to design all lessons and assessments • Following the guidelines and templates provided by the learning designer • Applying all feedback from reviews from faculty and the learning designer • Using open education resources (no textbook) • Adhering to deadlines provided by learning designer • This exciting opportunity will allow you to demonstrate your passion for learning. • An earned doctorate, or a master's degree and significant professional experience in the field, ideally in the field of Mechanical Engineering Technology, or another field relevant to supporting the program and its courses. • Demonstrated significant industry and/or experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering Technology. • Teaching experience at a two- or four-year degree granting institution in Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred. • Familiarity with the development and implementation of curriculum and/or training Mechanical Engineering Technology. • Update an existing course or design a new course based on area need, including program content and materials and/or delivery methods, and based on foundational knowledge, emerging practices, changes in the discipline, etc. • Align course development with course and program learning outcomes. • Possess the ability to identify relevant learning resources and content. • Create engaging learning activities, assignments, and valid assessments of learning. • Ensure that the course curriculum aligns with justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) principles. • Commit to being available throughout an agreed upon course development timeline and able to meet project deadlines. • Participate in weekly or bi-weekly course development meetings. • Collaborate with the course development team throughout the design process. • Use the client's established learning path as the framework for the course. • Write lessons, assignments, rubrics, and provide original content in an editable format. • Respond to questions or requests from the course development team within 48 hours. • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication. • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. • Excellent project management, organizational, and lecturing/presentation skills. • SolidWorks (3D CAD) experience required. • Ability to work with diverse populations. • Experience with online/distance education preferred. • Skills in course development and online training preferred. • Canvas or related LMS literacy preferred. • Familiarity with SharePoint and Zoom preferred. • Interest in the nontraditional education of adult learners. • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, academic catalogues and professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. • Ability to write reports, correspondence, and lecture materials. • Ability to effectively present information to students and respond to questions from academic staff. • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as points and percentages. • Ability to apply concepts of fractions, percentages, and ratio to rubrics. • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse constituency in a nonjudgmental manner, with good attitude and sensitivity that fosters tolerance, courtesy, and civility.
