• Fuel50 is seeking a Developer (Experience(DX) focused), Staff Full-Stack Java Engineer to join our New Zealand-based engineering team. • This is a technical leadership role where you will drive improvements in developer efficiency, tooling, and best practices while also building high-quality, scalable software solutions. • You will collaborate across teams to enhance our development workflow including our automation and pipelines. • You will mentor engineers, contribute to architectural decisions, and work on just about any challenging problem across our technology stack as they arise. • We value a collaborative culture and are looking for someone who is passionate about efficiency, simplicity, continuous improvement, problem-solving, and delivering exceptional software. • This position reports to our Platforms Tech Team Lead and offers flexible working hours. • Occasional calls outside of standard business hours may be required to support our global customers. • This role will also participate in our after-hours on-call rotation. • In this role, you will collaborate with our NZ-based teams and have the flexibility to work from anywhere in New Zealand.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong understanding of SaaS architecture and hands-on experience in some of the following technologies: Java, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Angular, MySQL, CI/CD, Docker, and Linux. • Passion for AI, automation, efficiency, and improving engineering processes. • Good command of shell scripting and Python. • High levels of developer empathy and laser-focus on developer productivity. • Excellent knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure. • Well versed in DevSecOps principles and best-practices. • Extraordinary ability to understand complex systems, track down bugs and resolve them and create regression tests. • Experience in addressing complex engineering challenges, such as zero-downtime migrations, microservices, and implementing robust CI/CD processes. • Proven experience as a full-stack developer, with expertise in front-end development workflow using Angular or a related JavaScript framework. • Pragmatic approach to designing, building, and maintaining scalable and reliable software systems. • Strong proficiency in writing clean, maintainable, and testable code, with a solid understanding of software development best practices. • Demonstrated ability to participate in code reviews, open pull requests, and contribute to the improvement of pipelines and tooling. • Unrelenting bias toward action and results. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. • Ability to mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. • Excellent remote-working skills, and willingness to travel to our Takapuna office as required for planning and team collaboration.
