• GEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer with a passion for building high-performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime platforms and applications. • Help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission. • The Staff Engineer reports to a Senior Staff Engineering Manager of Document Platform under GEICO Platform Engineering organization. • Tech lead works with other engineers to innovate and build a unified and modernized document management system that integrates with multiple business applications to serve critical business processes. • Lead strategy and execution of the technical roadmap of the foundational sub-area of the entire document management platform.

Requirements

• Fluency and specialization with at least two modern languages such as Java, Golang, Python or C# including object-oriented design • Extensive knowledge and experience of building data intensive large-scale distributed systems with focus on fault-tolerance and throughput • Experience building products of micro-services oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs • Experience building the architecture and design of new and current systems (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) • Fluency in DevOps concepts and best practices in CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as a code • Experience with application performance monitoring tools and performance assessments • In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms • Experience with solving analytical problems with quantitative approaches • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
