β’ Improve feedback cycles at all levels of development (examples: improving the experience of iterating on code locally, deploying to test environments, deploying to production). β’ Quickly ramp up on the existing architecture and product features. β’ Consistently deliver code that sets the standard for quality and maintainability. β’ Systematically think through potential design impacts on other teams and the company. β’ Review other software engineersβ code for correctness, style, and information security concerns. β’ Improve the performance, maintainability, and operations of the Gemini code base by engaging in refactoring and upgrade projects. β’ Identify and advocate for foundational work and practice improvements in their vertical. β’ Expertise in removing manual touch points via automated testing. β’ Experience mentoring less tenured engineers and onboarding new team members.
β’ At least 8+ years of software engineering experience. β’ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. β’ Excellent communication and collaboration skills. β’ Expertise in Scala or in a similar backend programming languages, such as Java or C#. β’ Genuinely passionate about working with developers and improving their experience and velocity. β’ The ability to work closely across teams and manage dependencies. β’ A customer and product-focused mindset, with the ability to make well-reasoned tradeoffs between speed and quality. β’ The ability to adapt and handle multiple competing priorities in collaboration with peers. β’ Experience leading other engineers on complex projects thereby owning scoping and estimation exercises, project planning and milestone, risk management and reporting, stakeholder management and providing key input to prioritization.
