Gemini offers a wide range of crypto products and services for individuals and institutions in over 70 countries. • The Role: Staff Software Engineer (Backend) • Responsibilities: Lead complex technical projects, mentor and develop engineers, influence engineering culture, drive architecture decisions, and advocate for operational excellence. • Minimum Qualifications: 8+ years experience in software engineering, backend development, cloud platform understanding, ability to lead complex projects, and mentor engineers. Preferred Qualifications: experience in finance industry, expertise in full-stack product development.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of designing and delivering high-quality, scalable systems. • Expertise in backend development, with advanced proficiency in at least one programming language (we primarily use Scala on the backend, but we're open to candidates willing to learn). • Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and experience with deploying and scaling applications in cloud environments. • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi-team technical projects from concept to completion, with a focus on long-term impact and scalability. • Experience in mentoring and coaching other engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. • Ability to balance technical trade-offs between speed and quality while maintaining a strong focus on delivering business value. • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and design teams, and to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
