Description

• We are looking for a Lead Front-End Software Engineer to join engineering at Root. • As a Lead Engineer, you will be a strong technical leader for a team within a product experience domain. • You’ll lead your team both through coaching and mentorship and by example as a primary contributor. • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to transform designs into high-quality code and ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs. • Mentor team members in best practices for front-end development and foster a culture of innovation and excellence.

Requirements

• 4+ years as a software engineer • 2+ years leading software teams • Familiarity with Ruby on Rails • Extensive experience in front-end development, with a strong proficiency in of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks such as React • Experience in architecting and building SPAs and mobile-first web applications • Proven ability to collaborate with design teams to transform concepts and designs into high-quality user experiences • Familiarity with common CMS tools such as Contentful, WordPress, and Drupal • Familiarity with tools and techniques for performance optimization, such as code bundling/splitting, lazy loading, and asset management • Possess a solid understanding of APIs, specifically REST, and be capable of effectively modifying and consuming them in front-end applications • Proven experience in planning experiments and projects that are completed successfully by your team and achieve the expected outcomes or drive significant learning • Excellent communication skills, both with engineering colleagues and team stakeholders
