📋 Description
• Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) is a global leader in the protection of unaccompanied and separated children who are forcibly displaced from their countries of origin. • KIND is expanding in the Americas and Europe to support legal and mental health needs for this population. • KIND seeks a Legal Intern in the Family Separation Response Team. • The internship is remote for Summer 2025, starting on May 27. • Intern will prepare legal documents and engage with clients, while gaining experience in immigration law. • The internship is unpaid but may be pursued for academic credit.
🎯 Requirements
• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited JD or LLM program. • Fluency in Spanish and English (oral and written). • Exceptional academic credentials, strong writing skills, and attention to detail. • Experience in immigration and family law is strongly preferred. • Experience working with children and survivors of trauma is preferred. • Must be passionate about issues affecting unaccompanied immigrant children. • Ability to work within an office environment (or remotely) and have regular interaction via telephone, videoconference, IM, and email with KIND's team.
