📋 Description

• The Research Associate position supports a variety of scientific research projects in the physical and astrophysical sciences. • Deployment to Antarctica will be necessary for this role (October 2025 - November 2026). • The candidate must complete physical and dental examinations required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. • Due to contract requirements, US Citizenship is required. • Must obtain a Public Trust security clearance prior to start date. • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of equipment used in the long-term monitoring of physical phenomena. • Support researchers by ensuring timely problem resolution, minimizing data collection interruptions. • Update standard operating procedures and maintain accurate inventory of spare parts.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical, or other Engineering, Astronomy, Astrophysics, or Physics is required. • Two (2+) years of experience in laboratory or observatory technical work. • General electronic troubleshooting experience required, with a minimum of two years of experience in the use of multiple commercial software packages as well as DOS and Windows operating systems. • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities required. • Knowledge of MS-Excel and Word required. • Must be organized, able to multi-task, and able to work without direct supervision. • Successful conflict resolution experience or training, and a flexible attitude. • Experience working with diverse groups of people in high stress situations.
