• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the backend development team • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other teams to deliver seamless integrations • Influence technical decisions and project direction in backend development using Ruby on Rails • Mentor and coach junior engineers • Communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders • Identify and address challenges proactively • Stay updated with the latest advancements in Ruby on Rails development • Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes • Identify opportunities for organizational enhancements
Requirements
• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality software • In-depth knowledge of distributed systems, cloud and one of the backend languages • Prior experience in a leadership or staff-level role within backend development • Experience with database design, optimization, and query performance tuning • Experience in driving technical decisions and implementing positive organizational changes • Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals regarding distributed systems and networks • Problem-solving skills and a first principles thinking approach • Bias towards shipping early and iterating • Familiarity with other backend technologies and frameworks • Excellent mentoring and coaching abilities • In-depth knowledge of Ruby on Rails and proficiency in PostgreSQL, RESTful APIs, and MVC architecture • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to navigate ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced environment
