Description

• The Senior Accountant will act as a business partner for multiple stakeholders and report directly to the Finance and Accounting Manager. • Responsible for supporting the financial management of Avesis's Controller's group. • Timely and accurate preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries and reporting for GAAP and Statutory Statement preparation. • Work in a cross-matrix environment with other teams in the Controllers group. • Participate in supporting the financial system project, claims system conversion and special projects as applicable. • Monthly journal entries for Cash Receipts in MAS. • Responsible for Risk Share Revenue Reporting and journal entries. • Collaborate with Finance Operations team to manage internal bank transfers, communicate correction of errors and drive process improvement. • Accrual journal entries and other miscellaneous journal entries as needed. • Monthly reconciliation of Cash Accounts, identifying and resolving reconciling items timely. • Monthly reconciliation of Suspense Accounts, identifying and resolving reconciling items timely. • Monthly reconciliation Service Fee Income and Premium Revenue. • Additional Balance Sheet and various Account reconciliations as assigned. • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, customer satisfaction and capitalize on increased efficiency. • Coaches, mentors, and develops junior team members as applicable. • Supports the annual audit PBC requests. • Provides monthly analytical review for either assigned accounts and/or companies. • Maintaining strong financial processes, procedures, and internal controls for assigned responsibilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance required; CPA/MBA desired. • 5+ years of progressive insurance industry statutory and GAAP accounting & financial reporting experience required. • Strong communication skills and an analytical mind set. • Ability to influence decisions within a collaborative and team-centric culture. • Proactive and self-motivated to solve problems, comfortable working in a culture of change and transformation. • Workday and Oracle G/L experience, a plus. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office products. • Knowledge and experience with GAAP required and Statutory accounting principles desired. • Knowledge of insurance industry products services and processes desired.
