• Optimize SQL Queries: Analyze, review, and refactor existing SQL queries for improved performance on both on-premise and AWS RDS-hosted SQL Servers. • Database Maintenance: Monitor, maintain, and tune SQL Server databases, ensuring high performance and availability in both on-premise and AWS RDS environments. • AWS RDS Management: Configure, manage, and optimize SQL Server databases hosted on AWS RDS, including backups, security, scaling, and monitoring. • Index Management: Design, implement, and maintain indexing strategies to ensure efficient query execution. • Performance Tuning: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks using SQL Profiler, Performance Monitor, AWS CloudWatch, and other monitoring tools. • Database Design: Collaborate with development teams to design efficient, scalable database structures that meet business needs. • Backup and Recovery: Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for both on-premise SQL Server databases and AWS RDS instances. • Security Management: Ensure the security of databases, with a focus on AWS IAM roles, encryption, and security best practices for cloud environments. • Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of database configurations, optimizations, and AWS RDS configurations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA, with a focus on performance tuning and query optimization, including 2+ years of experience managing SQL Server databases on AWS RDS. • Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (versions 2016 and above). • Strong proficiency in T-SQL programming, query tuning, and stored procedures. • Experience with database indexing, partitioning, and normalization. • Familiarity with SQL Profiler, Extended Events, and Query Store. • Knowledge of AWS RDS for SQL Server, including setup, configuration, and optimization. • Experience with AWS services like CloudWatch, IAM, S3, and EC2 in relation to database management. • Expertise in replication, high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and clustering strategies. • Experience with database design, data modeling, and cloud-based scaling strategies. • Familiarity with AWS management tools, SSMS, Visual Studio, and third-party monitoring tools. • Proven ability to troubleshoot performance issues on both on-premise and AWS RDS databases. • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work closely with development and IT teams. • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database - Specialty, AWS Solutions Architect) and Microsoft SQL Server certifications (e.g., MCSE: Data Management and Analytics) are a plus.
