• Newsweek is looking for a highly motivated and strategic Director of Video Content and Distribution to lead the creation, distribution, and monetization of video content across multiple platforms. • Shape an evolving video strategy that leads to audience growth, retention, and new revenue streams. • Partner with the core newsroom and the sales team for ideas to creatively grow video content.
• 5+ years of experience in managing video production, content strategy, or digital distribution in a media organization • Strong knowledge of digital video platforms, including YouTube, social media, OTT services, and other content distribution channels. • Excellent editorial news judgement and storytelling skills with the ability to create engaging content for the right audience at the right time • Expert hands-on experience with the full video production: pre-production (coordinating shoots, budget, writing scripts, etc.); production (filming); post-production (editing, coloring, exporting). • Familiarity with video monetization strategies, including advertising, branded content, and sponsorship models. • Experience developing new video series ideas, especially for YouTube and potential sponsorships • Oversee budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation for video projects, ensuring efficient use of time and resources. • Strong analytical skills and experience using data to drive content strategy and optimize video performance. • Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills, with the ability to work across cross-functional teams and multiple projects • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners. • Must be flexible and adaptable; a problem solver; conduct A/B testing • Must be willing to leverage AI and other emerging tools in creative tasks to automate, generate and/or produce
