Description

• NexGen Data Systems is seeking a Firewall Engineer with experience supporting in-service systems for the worldwide network. • Firewall Sustainment Engineers ensure continued operation and maintenance of a system with managed risk. • Technical surveillance of critical safety items, approved sources for these items, and the oversight of the design configuration baselines are also part of the sustaining engineering effort. • This team consists of a combination of System Engineering and management strategies to achieve the desired sustainment metrics. • This engineer will provide network security for a large enterprise network. • They will coordinate with multiple network subject matter experts and have frequent interaction with internal and external customers. • Troubleshoot network security suite solutions. • Work in a team setting making recommendations related to troubleshooting, device configuration, and documentation. • Resolve issues in a timely manner dealing with a variety of different network devices and protocols following applicable reporting formats. • Perform detailed technical analyses for a system, subsystem or system elements. • Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. • Use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.

Requirements

• 6-9 years relevant experience in supporting a large network infrastructure. • A strong working knowledge with Cisco devices, Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and Palo Alto Firewalls. • Experience with F5 preferred. • Experience with the following a plus: Palo Alto Firewall PA-4050, Palo Alto Firewall PA-2050, Palo Alto Firewall PA-5050, Cisco Switch/FWSM 6500-E, Cisco ASA 5500 Series Firewalls. • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is preferred. • Have a wide range of experience and be able to apply to various technical situations. • A good understanding of TCP/IP in regard to routing and subnetting. • Must be a team player that can work under pressure with good written and oral communication skills. • Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance (or above). • Experience with the following Network protocols and services: Routing Protocols (OSPF, BGP) and Access Control Lists. • 8140 Compliance Required. • Secret Clearance or higher required. • Cisco Certification (CCNA or CCNP) preferred. • Travel as required.
