Description

• Seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Engineer – Mining • Responsible for delivering all drill and blast engineering functions for the underground mine • Oversee the stoping process including preparation to execution of stope designs • Collaborate with contractors and suppliers ensuring compliance to company standards and regulations • Prepare explosive reports and statutory requirements of drill and blast function-related requests of MGB, PNP, etc. • Perform timely preparation of drill, charge designs, and stope notes to ensure blasted stocks are maintained • Guide junior and graduate Drill & Blast engineers through effective coaching and mentoring • Monitor the consumables and coordinates requirements with the procurement team as needed • Analyzes rock characteristics to predict fragmentation outcomes • Utilize geological data to forecast fragmentation outcomes • Apply statistical methods to validate fragmentation predictions • Coordinate with geologists and engineers to optimize blast performance • Utilize software tools to model blast scenarios and modify blast parameters under supervision • Conduct safety assessments and identify potential hazards in blast plans

Requirements

• Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold Way • Licensed Mining Engineer • At least two (2) years’ experience within the surface and underground mining environment or equivalent • With a valid Professional Driver’s License and Radio Operator’s License is an advantage • Knowledgeable in Deswik CAD and UGDB Production and development blasting schemes • Possess knowledge in explosives management • Ability to use logic and intuition to arrive at decisions or solutions to problems to achieve the desired outcome • Good communication skills both oral and written • Drive for continuous improvement and innovation
