Description

•Our client is seeking a consultant who can manage the financial administration and compliance of grants, contracts, and restricted funds from various sponsors (foundation, corporate, and government). •This role ensures accurate accounting procedures, budgeting, cost allocations, and monthly reporting for both institutional and faculty-led grants. •The accountant will monitor grant activities from award setup to closeout, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies. •Additionally, they collaborate with internal teams to ensure proper fund usage and provide financial reporting for endowed and restricted funds. •Ensure compliance with federal, state, and college regulations. •Research and apply sponsor guidelines for compliance. •Develop financial compliance policies and document internal controls. •Track and maintain records for compliance, including audits and risk assessments. •Assist with grant budget revisions and financial audits. •Handle post-award tasks like budget setup, expense tracking, invoicing, and reporting. •Approve labor distribution transfers and handle re-budgeting and reconciliations. •Create journal entries to fix discrepancies from reconciliations and closeouts. •Communicate with departments and funding sources for issue resolution. •Manage grant closeouts, including final reconciliations and reporting. •Prepare financial reports and lead monthly grant review meetings. •Review and approve grant expenses to ensure they meet grant guidelines. •Track and report on cost-share commitments. •Assist with grant-related invoicing and monitoring of subaward recipients. •Prepare and review grant budgets and update them in the college’s system. •Prepare monthly reports on restricted funds and flag potential overspending issues. •Communicate with departments about restricted fund activities. •Create journal entries to correct restricted fund discrepancies. •Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

•Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. •5+ years of experience in accounting and internal controls/auditing. •Experience with grants and contracts in higher education. •Knowledge of federal Uniform Guidance and restricted fund accounting. •Strong skills in MS Office, Google apps, and accounting software. •Ability to analyze data and forecast with strong problem-solving skills. •Organized and detail-oriented, able to work independently or in a team. •Able to handle confidential information responsibly. •Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with non-financial staff. •Accurate data entry and ability to maintain detailed records and reports. •Skilled in managing workload under pressure and meeting deadlines. •Strong financial and quantitative skills. •Excellent communication and presentation skills. •Collaborative with strong social skills. •Strong independent project management and leadership abilities. •Quick learner with critical thinking and problem-solving skills. •Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and ERP reporting tools like Smartview or Tableau. •Experience with grant management systems (e.g., Kyuse, Oracle Cloud) is a plus.
