• Spalding Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Cloud Applications Architect in Lexington Park, MD. • Spalding Consulting, Inc. is a professional services company delivering cutting-edge solutions to the Department of Defense since 2001. • Our expert-level solutions include software development, information technology, program management, financial management and business intelligence services. • Spalding Consulting offers competitive compensation, career development, flexible work schedules and excellent benefits. • This is a remote position (see on-site requirements below). • On-boarding will require 1-2 visits to Patuxent River, MD for local candidates. • Training will be virtual and telework maximized/permitted to the greatest extent possible. • Future on-site/telework requirements/schedules may change as additional client direction is received. • Provide System Engineering SME support to software development teams in standardizing microservices architectures by leveraging cloud native services and technologies. • Develop migration strategies for on-prem to cloud migrations and provide recommendations to modernize legacy applications from monolithic to service-based architectures. • Help architect, select, and acquire tooling and technologies for the DevSecOps software factory and cloud environments. • Collaborate with cybersecurity and information assurance teams to define and enforce security standards, policies and requirements. • Provide assistance with overseeing and defining architectures, writing and managing project/program architecture documentation. • Promote a culture of security and continuous improvement. • Experience with AWS storage services such as S3, EFS, EBS, FSX, Storage Gateway, etc. • Experience with AWS database services, e.g.: RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, RedShift, and others. • Experience with AWS Elastic Kubernetes Services (EKS). • Participate in a highly functioning development teams utilizing agile methodologies combined with modern DevSecOps software practices and influence the way services are developed by providing best practices and architecture feedback. • The ideal candidate will have outstanding problem solving and critical thinking skills with desire to continuously learn and apply new skills and technologies while thriving in a fast-paced environment. • Other duties as assigned or required.
• Experience using Amazon Web Services (AWS), knowledge of Microsoft’s Azure, Google Cloud, or other major cloud computing services. • Deep understanding of cloud computing technologies, applications, and trends. • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, software application, and design. • Experienced with AWS Cloud Compute Services to include EC2, ECS Fargate, AWS Gateway, AWS Lambda serverless computing. • Work independently, engaging others when needed, to drive work to closure on-time. • Strong communication and writing skills with the willingness to collaborate with cross-functional departments and teams, and able to capture action items and status clearly and concisely. • MS or MA or MBA technical degree (Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Mathematics, Management or Relevant Technical Discipline) and 10 years related experience OR BS degree and 12 years related experience OR AS or AA degree and 14 years of related experience OR HS and 16 years related experience. • Relevant industry certifications in AWS. • Knowledge of the AWS AI/ML and GenAI stack including Bedrock and its underlying LLMs, SageMaker HyperPod, deploying Hugging Face and other models, and using Jupyter on AWS.
