📋 Description

• Sketchy is seeking a Data Engineer who will be responsible for building and optimizing data pipelines and systems from the ground up. • The Data Engineer will expand and enhance our data architecture while improving data flow and collection for cross-functional teams. • Create and maintain optimal and robust data pipeline architecture. • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability and usability. • Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline and cloud based data warehousing to provide actionable insights. • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources. • Design the data architecture and model relationships for all data systems. • Keep data separated and secure across national boundaries through multiple data centers.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience working on consumer web-based applications with modern development frameworks and platform technologies. • Knowledgeable of engineering fundamentals and architecture including distributed systems, ETL/ELT, SQL, NoSQL and cloud based services (preferably AWS). • Strong SQL background and understand query analysis and the nuances of various RDBMS based platforms. • Experience in cloud based data warehousing and modeling datasets to optimize data storage, retrieval, and performance. • Knowledgeable in building and optimizing data transformations using SQL-based tools (preferably dbt or Dataform). • Self-directed, requiring minimal supervision with the ability to think holistically around engineering challenges. • Adaptive, empathetic, collaborative and positive mindset. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, technical and otherwise. • Experience designing and implementing app architectures and code that is both scalable, and performant. • Architected data workflows and data pipelines at scale. • Experience with modern tooling for instrumentation, monitoring, metrics and performance and cost analysis - Examples might include Data Dog, NewRelic, Heap, CloudHealth and so on.
