Description

β€’ Internship program designed for neurodivergent individuals with autism. β€’ Join Southwest as a Summer 2025 Intern, with a 12-week internship lasting from May 20 to August 8, 2025. β€’ Work fully remote, with opportunities to connect with your Team and other workgroups virtually and potential to travel to visit our Corporate Campus in Dallas, Texas. β€’ Dedicate 40 hours each week to your internship responsibilities and tasks. β€’ The Intern will work full-time as a Data Engineer Intern within the Technology Department. β€’ The Intern may be asked to support a variety of projects within the Technology Platform.

Requirements

β€’ High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required β€’ Must be at least 18 years of age. β€’ Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986. β€’ You must have a valid U.S. Social Security Number to complete the full hiring process. β€’ Progress toward undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or Information Technology, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Business, or similar degree required. β€’ Progress towards a 4-year undergraduate degree preferred β€’ To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled as a full-time or part-time student (minimum of 6 hours) as defined by your university at the time of application and during the internship β€’ At least one semester remaining at the time the internship ends is preferred β€’ Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application β€’ Exposure to Agile methodologies preferred. β€’ Classroom and/or industry experience with the full software development life cycle preferred. β€’ Classroom and/or industry experience with system and acceptance criteria preferred. β€’ Classroom and/or industry experience using at least one programming language preferred. β€’ Classroom and/or industry experience using Object Oriented Programming (Java) preferred. β€’ Exposure or experience with AWS preferred. β€’ Exposure or experience with Python preferred. β€’ Previous internship or work experience as a Software Engineer within the past 12 months preferred. β€’ Involvement in Software Development clubs a plus. β€’ Basic knowledge of development methodologies, practices, concepts, technologies and technical options. β€’ Demonstrate programming aptitude and ability for logical and abstract thinking. β€’ Ability to stay organized and manage multiple and concurrent assignments under tight deadlines. β€’ Works well in a culture that is open, direct, respectful, courteous, and compassionate.
