The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Python, Databricks, and Spark, with a solid understanding of R. You will play a critical role in deploying machine learning models and statistical analyses to provide valuable insights for football analytics. This role requires a self-starter who can work independently, own projects, and drive them across the finish line, with a keen interest in football and/or the fantasy/betting market. • Key Responsibilities: • Model Development and Analysis: Build and implement analytical football models, providing valuable insights to enhance our football analytics offerings. Conduct comprehensive data analysis to extract actionable insights. • Model Productionization: Ensure seamless deployment of machine learning and statistical models using Python, Databricks, and Spark. You will work on converting existing R models to Python as part of your initial responsibilities. • Large Dataset Management: Handle large datasets efficiently using Spark and Databricks, ensuring data integrity and performance optimization. • Collaboration: Work closely with other data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver high-quality analytical solutions. • Innovation: Identify and implement new tools, techniques, and best practices to enhance our data analytics capabilities.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. Master’s or PhD is preferred. • Experience: 3+ years of experience in data science, preferably in a sports analytics environment. • Technical Skills: • Proficiency in Python and experience with Databricks. • Strong knowledge of Spark for handling large datasets. • Familiarity with R is preferred. • Experience in productionizing machine learning or statistical models. • Other Skills: • Highly motivated, self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills. • Ability to work independently, own projects, and drive them across the finish line with minimal supervision. • Strong communication skills, capable of telling a compelling data-driven story to nontechnical stakeholders. • Passion for football and/or experience in the fantasy/betting market is highly desirable.
