• The Director of Accounting & Distribution is a pivotal leadership role overseeing all operational accounting, finance, and inventory management functions within the organization. • Reporting directly to the CEO, this position is responsible for ensuring the company's financial health and implementing best practices across departments. • The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting, finance, and inventory management, with a proven track record of driving operational excellence and financial integrity. • Key Responsibilities: • Accounting & Finance: • Subledger Management: Oversee timely and accurate subledger close processes for all entities, ensuring adherence to GAAP with complete financial recording and reconciliations, including balance sheet reconciliations and necessary adjustments. • Financial Reporting: Lead the development, distribution, and analysis of operational financial statements and reports across the organization. • Payroll Oversight: Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including compensation, tax withholdings, and benefits administration. • AR/AP Supervision: Manage Billing/Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams and processes, ensuring efficiency and accuracy. • Treasury & Cash Forecasting: Oversee weekly cash forecasting and treasury management to optimize cash flow. • Budgeting & Forecasting: Direct the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, providing insights to align with financial objectives. • Risk Management Support: Assist with insurance-related data and annual renewal processes to mitigate risks. • Tax Compliance: Coordinate with external tax firms to ensure accurate and timely completion of yearly tax returns. • Audit Preparation: Provide comprehensive documentation and support to external auditors. • Credit Card Management: Track and manage employee spending on company-issued credit cards. • Inventory Management: • Inventory Policies: Establish and maintain inventory accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with financial regulations. • Inventory Accuracy: Monitor and maintain accurate financial records of inventory levels, ensuring proper valuation in financial statements. • Process Improvement: Design processes and reports to improve inventory accuracy and reduce costs. • Financial Analysis: Analyze inventory-related data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and potential risks. • Inventory Forecasting: Lead budgeting and forecasting for inventory investments, setting cost and unit targets aligned with financial goals. • Inventory Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve inventory turnover, reduce obsolescence, and support financial objectives. • Procure-to-Pay Process: Oversee procurement, vendor management, purchase order, and payment processing. • Logistics Oversight: Manage domestic and international freight movements and warehousing operations. • Inventory Audits: Schedule and oversee physical inventory counts across company and third-party locations. • 3PL Supervision: Conduct routine site visits to 3PL locations to ensure accurate inventory handling and storage capacity.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. • MBA, CPA, and/or Lean Six Sigma certifications are highly preferred. • Cross-Functional Expertise: Strong accounting and finance background with experience in back-office processes. • Inventory Management Knowledge: Understanding of wholesale and retail inventory processes, including planning, demand forecasting, replenishment, and pricing. • Risk Management Acumen: Proficient in risk identification, assessment, and mitigation practices. • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to interpret complex data strategically and provide actionable insights. • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with experience presenting to senior management, board members, and external partners. • Leadership & Team Development: Commitment to building, mentoring, and retaining a diverse team, with strong delegation and management abilities. • Adaptability in Startup Environments: Ability to function effectively in startup or resource-limited settings. • Project Management: Strong process and project management skills, with an exceptional attention to detail and an ability to balance multiple priorities effectively. • Product & Service Knowledge: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all company products and services.
