• Ready to build UpCloud’s BI from the ground up? • Are you a builder at heart, someone who thrives in scaling up data capabilities and taking the lead in shaping BI infrastructure from scratch? • If you’ve got the experience of developing BI solutions in a growing, international environment and are itching to take ownership of an entire BI platform as a joint team effort, this might be the perfect next step for you! • UpCloud is at an exciting stage in our journey, and we’re on the lookout for a Senior Data Engineer who can help us build something that will become the backbone of our business as well as a trusted cloud service provider for our clients. • This is a hands-on role where you’ll be helping our internal clients get the most out of their data. • You’ll also work closely with our internal teams across the organisation, to deliver valuable data to our business decision processes. • Not only will you be working with cutting-edge tech, but you'll also be everyone's new favourite UpCloudian, our "data whisperer", offering them something that will level up their own work. • You'll have the unique opportunity to influence from day one, and we’re looking for someone with the vision and drive to build our BI capability. • If you’re someone who gets excited about building something new, this is your chance to shine. • You’ll be the person helping us figure out how to structure, build, and manage our BI systems—while also laying the foundation for future growth. • Plus, you’ll have a direct impact on everyone from sales to product managers, finance, and operations, just to name a few. • We’re still a small enough company of 130 people and a close-knit team, but as we’re scaling up, you have the opportunity to grow into new roles while having a huge impact on our business. • As is oft the case for scaleups, the opportunities for innovation are endless.
🎯 Requirements
• Strong GCP and BigQuery expertise (a must-have for this role). • Advanced SQL experience (data modelling, performance tuning and security). • Strong Data Engineering experience (ETL/ELT, data warehouse and data lake management). • Strong skills in Python (we use both Python and Golang, but you won’t need to master the latter). • A proactive, hands-on approach: You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are ready to roll up your sleeves, get things done, and solve complex problems. • Good communication skills: You’ll be engaging with teams across the business, so you’ll need to be comfortable talking to both technical and non-technical people. • A desire to grow and take ownership. • Nice-to-haves: Experience with message queues. • Experience with Google Looker Studio. • Experience driving or leading data platform projects. • A background in international environments and working with global teams.
