Description

β€’ Oversee the design of user interfaces and user experiences for complex DoD applications, ensuring they are intuitive, engaging, and meet user needs. β€’ Conduct user research through interviews, surveys, and usability testing. β€’ Develop wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to visualize design concepts and iterate based on user feedback and results. β€’ Ensure all designs comply with DoD accessibility standards and best practices for usability, creating inclusive experiences for all users. β€’ Work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to integrate design into the development process, ensuring a seamless user experience. β€’ Create and maintain design systems and style guides to ensure uniformity. β€’ Provide expert guidance on UX best practices, advocating for human-centered design approaches and methodologies. β€’ Keep up to date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve our UI/UX design capabilities. β€’ Mentor and guide junior designers, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the design team. β€’ Ensure all design practices and deliverables comply with DoD regulations and cybersecurity standards, contributing to the overall security posture of the project.

Requirements

β€’ Active DoD security clearance or the ability to obtain one is required. β€’ Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in graphic design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field. β€’ Experience: 8+ years in UI/UX design, including at least 3 years in a senior or SME role. β€’ Strong proficiency in UI/UX design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD. β€’ Experience with user research methodologies and usability testing. β€’ Knowledge of accessibility standards Section 508, WCAG, and best practices. β€’ Familiarity with front-end development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript to effectively communicate with development teams. β€’ Strong understanding of design systems and component-based design approaches. β€’ Excellent communication and collaboration skills. β€’ Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. β€’ Ability to present and advocate for design concepts to stakeholders at all levels. β€’ Experience with DoD-specific projects or within a government environment. β€’ Relevant certifications such as Certified Usability Analyst (CUA) or Human Factors International (HFI).
