Description

• Oversee the design of user interfaces and user experiences for complex DoD applications, ensuring they are intuitive, engaging, and meet user needs. • Conduct user research through interviews, surveys, and usability testing. • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to visualize design concepts and iterate based on user feedback and results. • Ensure all designs comply with DoD accessibility standards and best practices for usability, creating inclusive experiences for all users. • Work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to integrate design into the development process, ensuring a seamless user experience. • Create and maintain design systems and style guides to ensure uniformity. • Provide expert guidance on UX best practices, advocating for human-centered design approaches and methodologies. • Keep up to date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve our UI/UX design capabilities. • Mentor and guide junior designers, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the design team. • Ensure all design practices and deliverables comply with DoD regulations and cybersecurity standards, contributing to the overall security posture of the project.

Requirements

• Active DoD security clearance or the ability to obtain one is required. • Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in graphic design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field. • Experience: 8+ years in UI/UX design, including at least 3 years in a senior or SME role. • Strong proficiency in UI/UX design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD. • Experience with user research methodologies and usability testing. • Knowledge of accessibility standards Section 508, WCAG, and best practices. • Familiarity with front-end development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript to effectively communicate with development teams. • Strong understanding of design systems and component-based design approaches. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. • Ability to present and advocate for design concepts to stakeholders at all levels. • Experience with DoD-specific projects or within a government environment. • Relevant certifications such as Certified Usability Analyst (CUA) or Human Factors International (HFI).
