• Coordinate, synchronize, and oversee range operations and coordinate and provide immediate safety response in support of government rapid acquisition and prototype testing for the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU). • Supervise and control vendor access and activities on government-owned test ranges, primarily Fort Hunter Liggett range in central California. • Coordinate and plan to provide first response safety and medical support in the case of an accident, and must possess not only relevant qualifications, but also the experience, maturity, and crisis management savvy to safely defuse potentially hazardous situations. • Provides support for safe and effective test and range operations, as well as associated operations mission tasks by: • Coordinating and executing flight and ground test events in coordination with all stakeholders • Serving as the first responder to incidents and accidents to include fire suppression, technical rescue surface/subsurface, and medical response. • Serving as the individual responsible party for multiple groups of government and civilian stakeholders • Coordinating ground- and air-space use and deconfliction • Conduct the operation of air- and ground-vehicles in support of test operations • Certifying other DoD and non-DoD personnel as Range Safety Officers • Understanding the foundational technical characteristics of the systems being tested, including flight controls, aerodynamics, connectivity, power sources, etc. • Excelling at mission execution without specific instructions • Responding positively to chaotic and dynamic situations • Possessing excellent social and organizational skills • Functioning effectively for extended periods of time in austere conditions
• Reside within 200 miles from the range site (Fort Hunter Liggett, CA) and be willing to stay on location Monday through Friday on an alternating schedule. • Certified range safety officer. • Minimum 2 year of military, expeditionary, medical, or test operations experience. • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent in a related field or has equivalent work experience. • Certified EMT.
