The organization supports communities harmed by internationally financed projects through a combination of community-driven and policy-level strategies to ensure access to justice. They track and analyze accountability offices' operations to promote best practices. Additionally, Accountability Counsel influences policy by applying lessons learned from their community work to prevent future harm, advocating for independent accountability offices in commercial banks, UN agencies, and other institutions. Their efforts have led to various communities being compensated or seeing changes in project design that now reflect their needs. Accountability Counsel also maintains the Accountability Console, a database of community complaints related to the impacts of internationally financed projects.
