Description

• Responsible for direct supervision of underwriters and underwriting assistants within the assigned team. • Ensures that existing products are implemented and executed based on individual state strategies as documented in the underwriting guidelines. • Identifies strategic opportunities for growth and profitability by analyzing current procedures and guidelines. • Works collaboratively with other departments, Product Managers and Analysts to accomplish growth and profit objectives. • Participates in annual agent reviews with Pricing and Marketing and assists with Agency audits. • Performs risk reviews and upfront underwriting reviews to determine risk acceptability. • Serves as point of contact for exceptions (UW’s, Agents, Sups, TSM, Pricing, Marketing, Etc). • Provides input into product decisions and procedures with significant involvement in underwriting and processing of new business and renewals. • Communicates underwriting guidelines, philosophies, and decisions with Pricing, Marketing, Compliance, etc. and generates ideas & facilitates automation for the Commercial product. • Develops and analyzes both internal and external data to provide key input to Pricing and Marketing by analyzing the quality of agents’ business. • Helps to determine actions needed for agent rehabilitation. • Utilizes performance evaluation to perform underwriting audits including conducting file reviews to ensure adherence with underwriting guidelines and direction.

Requirements

• 4 year Bachelors Degree (Preferred). • 7 or more years of experience (Preferred). • This job has supervisory duties. • In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
