• Develop and drive investigation strategies by leveraging public records and intelligence • Take ownership of advancing complex investigations aligned with strategic goals • Draft targeted, strategic, litigation-ready public records requests • Analyze complex government documents to identify insights and trends • Synthesize findings into compelling narratives focusing on accuracy and newsworthiness • Produce clear, contextualized content like blog posts to increase public understanding • Serve as an in-house expert on relevant issue areas • Manage and supervise the research intern program • Implement process improvement recommendations to enhance efficiency

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years experience in government investigations, investigative journalism, or policy research, or a related field involving in-depth investigative, research, analyses • Interest in American Oversight’s mission of government accountability and transparency; commitment to public interest advocacy • Exceptionally strong skills in problem-solving and critical thinking • Strong communication skills, both oral and written • Attention to detail; thorough and accurate completion of tasks • Project management abilities; multitask and manage multiple projects • Good judgment and decision-making abilities • Strategic thinking; identify key issues and relations • Collaboration; inclusive and engaged team player • Strong editing skills and experience providing constructive feedback on written products • Understanding of news developments, the political landscape and accountabilities
