• As a Staff Data Engineer at BECU, you’ll lead the charge in implementing our enterprise data strategy, utilizing your deep expertise in data management to create scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions. • You’ll optimize data quality, govern data standards, and design robust data pipelines that empower data analysts and data scientists alike. • By collaborating with cybersecurity and architecture teams, you’ll ensure best practices are implemented to stay ahead of evolving technological innovations. • Your role will be crucial in advancing our AI and ML capabilities while mentoring and guiding data engineering teams to push the boundaries of what’s possible.

Requirements

• Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience. • At least 7 years of experience in data engineering. • Minimum 5 years of experience with coding languages such as Python, Scala, Java, SQL, and Spark. • Experience with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud. • Knowledge of modern data platforms, distributed processing (e.g., Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake). • Expertise in ETL/ELT processes, SQL, data modeling, and data warehousing. • Experience with cloud-based integration tools and security best practices for data handling. • Demonstrated experience in data governance, metadata management, and master data management using tools like Alation, Erwin, and Azure Purview. • Proficiency with CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and YAML pipeline creation. • Desired Qualifications: Advanced degree in a related field. • Experience with AI/ML integration and data analytics. • Strong presentation skills with experience addressing both technical and non-technical audiences. • Expertise in version control (e.g., Git Flow, Trunk-Based Development) and performing code reviews. • Deep understanding of Test Driven Development, including unit, integration, and performance testing. • Ability to design scalable data solutions throughout the data lifecycle, from ideation to implementation. • Proven leadership in mentoring and guiding junior team members. • Availability to work full-time with additional hours as necessary, including on-call support.
