Description

• BioMarin seeks a Director of Data Science and Engineering to lead data-driven operations • Focus on developing impactful solutions across operations value chain • Extensive experience in product development and process optimization • Drive innovation utilizing AI, machine learning, and cloud technologies • Enhance operational efficiency and regulatory compliance • Lead collaborative development of data-driven solutions • Oversee root cause analysis and develop software for data visualization • Champion cloud technologies and generative AI for operational resilience • Mentor and develop teams of data scientists and software engineers • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate insights into business value

Requirements

• Bachelor's or advanced degree (preferred) in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering (Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field) • 15+ years of experience in the biotechnology industry with demonstrated leadership in data science and engineering • Strong scientific understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes • Demonstrated leadership in managing teams of data scientists, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders • Extensive experience in designing and managing cloud-based data pipelines, with hands-on expertise in platforms like Databricks and working across multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) • Strong Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL, and experience with data visualization tools like R-Shiny/Dash/ Streamlit /D3.js • Solid mathematical foundations in machine learning and AI, with a deep understanding of probability, statistics, optimization algorithms and architecture for developing predictive models and AI applications • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with experience driving cross-functional initiatives
