β’ Join us on the journey to get to net zero. β’ At Carbon Direct, we dedicate our scientific, software, and business expertise to empower organizations around the world to take climate action. β’ Our Mission: Enable organizations to reduce, remove, and utilize their emissions with carbon science. β’ We make carbon science accessible and actionable with our end-to-end platform. β’ We are looking for a Research Associate to join our Industrial Decarbonization team to support research, modeling, analysis, and writing tasks across complex carbon management advisory engagements. β’ Focus on engineered pathways to CO2 reduction and removal such as clean fuels, low carbon building materials, and engineered pathways to carbon dioxide removal. β’ Our work environment is collaborative, fast paced, and may require travel. β’ A successful candidate is a self-starter, someone who stays informed about regulatory, policy, and technological developments in the climate space and sustainability more broadly. β’ Excited to work hard towards the implementation of effective, scaleable, and just climate change solutions.
β’ Solid foundation in physical or applied sciences, e.g. engineering, chemistry, earth sciences, physics, and associated applied quantitative or mathematical skills. β’ Familiarity with carbon management solutions, including decarbonization and carbon removal technologies. β’ Experience with one or more of the following subjects: β’ Life Cycle Assessments and/or Techno-Economic Assessments β’ Carbon markets (voluntary or compliance) and relevant standards and protocols β’ Emissions Mitigation strategies, including efficiency, electrification, carbon capture and sequestration, and fuel switching β’ Engineered and hybrid carbon removal solutions (e.g., direct air capture, bioenergy with carbon capture and storage, mineralization, etc.) β’ Industrial/Chemical engineering or industrial ecology background is a plus. β’ Commercial electricity generation background a plus. β’ Ability to synthesize findings from scientific and technical reports. β’ Ability to work effectively and efficiently with limited supervision when necessary, proactively engaging with project managers β’ Excellent interpersonal skills, including effectively communicating across internal teams (including with part-time/academic staff members) and external stakeholders. β’ Proficiency in Excel and/or other analytical software (e.g., R, GIS, Tableau) preferred. β’ We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds.
