• GEICO is seeking an experienced Staff Engineer. • Key member of the engineering staff working across the organization. • Focus on the development and maintenance of web applications and supporting architecture. • Evolve web applications with focus on speed, security, and availability. • Scope, design, and build scalable software solutions. • Manage engineering teams and oversee software development projects. • Mentor peers and junior engineers to develop their careers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software development experience and/or solutions engineering experience with technologies such as Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Golang, Docker, Kubernetes, or Terraform. • Must have recent hands-on experience with developing or designing cloud solutions. • 4+ years of experience with architecture and design. • 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service. • 3+ years of experience in open-source frameworks. • Strong understanding of headless automated testing architectures and open-source solutions with experience in JavaScript, React, PostgreSQL and NGINX. • Strong background in delivering digital - web products at scale. • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts, platforms, and technology. • Advanced understanding of monitoring concepts and tooling. • Ability to prioritize and drive results based on business value to the organization. • Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). • Experience designing flexible, scalable, high-availability Cloud native applications. • Experience with implementing CI/CD, Release Management, and Configuration Management processes tooling. • Understanding of data modeling and AI concepts is desired. • Strong critical thinking, decision making, and problem-solving skills. • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate to both senior leadership and highly technical personnel. • Ability to adapt and excel in a fast-paced environment.
