📋 Description

• Lead development of a global inventory of chemical plants • Use various global data sources for accurate chemical industry information • Manage data sets using spreadsheets and databases • Train and manage GEM researchers for chemical inventory • Create and update wiki pages for heavy industry projects • Develop presentations and visualizations • Collaborate with GEM staff on various projects • Assess environmental impacts of heavy industry projects

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in chemicals manufacturing and/or energy/environmental/heavy industry decarbonization research • Fluency in English • Demonstrated analytical experience in the energy sphere, including experience summarizing and presenting quantitative and qualitative data and managing large data sets • Professional writing skills • Experience coordinating people, projects, and resources; ability to work with others effectively • Experience networking and building working relationships with external stakeholders and experts, including working with media • Familiarity with carbon accounting, emissions calculations, decarbonization roadmaps, net zero strategies, etc. • Technical background such as engineering, physics, chemistry, environmental science, or demonstrated relevant experience • Experience with relevant database(s) • Knowledge of wiki formatting • Fluency in additional languages is a plus • Knowledge of the environmental and social impacts of energy and chemicals/materials production and the global political economy of energy/materials generation and procurement • Understanding of industry and energy transition issues, and/or relevant technical background • Strong research skills, including attention to detail, scrupulous adherence to documented facts, and resourcefulness in using search tools • Demonstrated previous project management experience: ability to break large projects into timelines, monitor progress towards goals, adjust priorities based on feedback, and meet deadlines • Possession of fundamental computer programming and spatial mapping skills • Track record of working to advance social and environmental justice
