• Critical role for the International Fund for Public Interest Media • Reporting directly to the CEO, overseeing strategy implementation • Build a pipeline of partners and manage grant making activities • Develop an approach to ecosystems-change in collaboration with the policy unit • Ensure coordination with other media funders and development actors • Represent IFPIM in the region and globally, where required • Monitor risks and maintain ‘license to operate’ • Manage a small team based in the region • Frequent travel across Eastern Europe and other parts of the world
• Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience • Strong commitment to public interest journalism • Deep understanding of journalism, media, media markets, and business models • Strong networks and in-depth knowledge relevant to public interest media • Ability to develop and manage partnerships with a variety of stakeholders • Ideally previous experience in financing or providing grants to media organizations • Character and background to command credibility and respect across sectors • Strong political acumen and ability to navigate complex contexts • Ability to implement and articulate a clear strategic vision • Experience working with bilateral and/or multilateral donors • Experience managing a team of professionals • Ability to work collaboratively and mentor others • Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to contribute to the creation of a new institution • Excellent communications and storytelling skills • Experience managing teams across multiple geographies
