Description

• Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the need for human intervention time • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems • Identify departmental needs and make suggestions regarding technical direction • Design and implement system security and data assurance • Create documentation and detailed sets of instructions on infrastructure and software • Troubleshoot and debug all infrastructure/software related to Storm product • Review and address customer issues regarding provisioning related products • Research and implement improvements to the customer experience in regards to provisioning related products • Work closely to build relationships across teams and ensure that requests are viable and in the best interest of the company

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject or equivalent experience • 3+ years relevant experience • Hands on experience with large scale distributed systems, storage, cluster computing, cloud computing • Strong understanding of system architecture, design, administration, networking and monitoring • Mixed operating systems experience: (Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, Windows, etc.) • Impeccable troubleshooting technique • Strong familiarity with multiple scripting languages: (bash, Perl, Python, Ruby, etc.) • Diagnostic and mitigation techniques for complex hardware, software and networking issues • Solid working knowledge of OS installation and automation • Experience with version control systems • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Functional awareness of the following technologies: LVM SSL iptables OS Virtualization (Xen, KVM, libvirt, etc.) Apache / Nginx DNS (bind / PowerDNS) RHCE or equivalent experience
