📋 Description

We provide the tools and resources to reach your weight management goals. • We are looking for a Staff Engineer, Backend to join the MyFitnessPal Ads team. Our users rely on the MyFitnessPal app to power their health and fitness journeys every day. As a member of our MyFitnessPal Engineering team, you’ll have the opportunity to positively impact those users with your expertise in the backend systems that drive the MyFitnessPal ecosystem. In addition to technical expertise, you’ll find that your teammates value collaboration, mentorship, and inclusive environments. • Our brand-new Ads team is dually focused on improving the existing Ads experience while exploring novel formats for advertising throughout the user journey. If you’re excited about driving meaningful business growth while delivering a delightful experience to our end users, we want you on our team! • Individuals in this role are trusted to break down abstract problems and implement solutions. Often this role will lead larger efforts with the appropriate collaboration with peers and superiors. This role spends the bulk of their time contributing code and ideas to solve complex technical problems.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant experience • Have built high request volume APIs for a multitude of clients, including but not limited to: Mobile, Web, Third-Party integrators • Supported client teams through migrations efforts involving large-scale API changes • Expertise with a variety of API design patterns, such as REST & GraphQL • Expertise with a variety of data stores (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis) • Profiling and performance tuning applications • Expertise with high volume messaging queues such as Kafka • Familiarity with AWS and/or other cloud computing platforms • Bonus Points: • Exposure to XP, Pair Programming, Mob Programming or other highly collaborative working styles • Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD), Behavior Driven Development (BDD) or other practices focussed on building self verifying code • Have contributed code to iOS, Android or Web applications • Experience re-platforming high volume, high criticality system
