• About the Shopping Marketplaces Team • The Shopping Marketplaces team is at the heart of NerdWallet’s organic growth, owning some of the highest-traffic shopping experiences across two of our biggest verticals: Credit Cards and Wealth (Banking and Investing). • Our mission is to create best-in-class, data-driven shopping experiences that help millions of users make smarter financial decisions. • This team operates at the intersection of technology, experimentation, and product excellence. We build fast, intuitive, and highly optimized pages that rank, perform, and scale — all while collaborating with business stakeholders and SEO strategists to push the boundaries of what’s possible in organic. • If you thrive on high-impact work, solving technical challenges, and shaping the future of financial shopping experiences on the web, this is the place for you. • We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer who is both a technical leader and hands-on builder — someone who can drive technical excellence, front-end performance, and platform scalability while collaborating with stakeholders to shape the future of our organic shopping products.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 8+ years in software engineering, with a strong background in full stack development. • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). • Expert in TypeScript, Node.js and the web platform; proficient in other modern languages such as Rust, Go, Python, etc. • Expert in modern front-end frameworks such as Next.js, React.js, Material UI, Tailwind, etc. • Deeply knowledgeable about Web Performance, Core Web Vitals & Technical SEO. • Keen eye for design, usability and user experience. Understanding of accessibility best-practices. • Experience in Observability and running a production website or application at scale. • Experience with database systems, microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, IAC, CI/CD and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure). • Deep domain knowledge in finance or a related field. • Knowledge of security best practices, particularly in financial services.
