Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in the completion of projects for clients in the industrial market sector including project development from concept through completion, including estimating, start-up and commissioning. • Relevant experience includes oil and gas, refinery, pulp and paper, or other industrial environments. • Technical field experience is relevant; our team spends time with clients at their site. • Project development from concept through construction, including start-up and commissioning. • BS in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Chemical Engineering (BSChemE) required. • PE (Professional Engineer) registration desired; must be working toward or be willing to obtain PE. • Experience designing industrial piping systems and equipment layouts. • Experience estimating mechanical engineering labor and associated cost and total installed construction costs for the mechanical aspects of the project is required. • Experience leading multiple disciplines in assembling a total installed cost estimate (+/- 30%) for an entire project is preferred. • Strong background providing a combination of both project management and engineering skills and a high comfort level with taking ownership and leading small/medium projects that are mechanically focused with little to no managerial oversight. • Strong desire to grow in project management, managing all sizes of projects. • Experience running projects using MS Project or similar tool is strongly preferred. • Strong written and oral communication skills. • Strong computer skills including the use of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), web meeting software (Teams, WebEx, GoTo Meeting, etc.), and PDF markup software (Bluebeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat). • Experience with Navisworks Freedom, Simulate or Manage is preferred. • Basic knowledge of CAD software terminology, methods, and practices; ability to operate CAD software is not required. • Solid listening skills and ability to think "outside the box" are a must to allow our team to come up with creative solutions to match the client’s needs and budgets. • Capable and willing to promote Norwest by intentionally seeking out new work with existing and prospective clients. • Self-motivated, able to work independently as well as lead a team with energy and enthusiasm. • Have a desire to seek continuous improvement of personal and team skill-set. • Strong leadership skills and problem resolution skills. • Ability and willingness to serve as primary customer liaison, serve as a subject matter expert in front of clients and to work within the team of engineers and designers to achieve client objectives. • Ability to travel approximately 10-25% of the time throughout the West, Northwest and nationally. • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application for employment-Norwest Engineering does not sponsor employment visas.
