• Position: Business Development Representative • Territory: southern California • Purpose: provide first-line contact with accounts and brokers for property and casualty insurance • Solicit and develop new accounts • Service existing accounts to maintain business • Inspect client sites as part of loss control services • Participate in trade association meetings and conventions • Review coverages and programs and counsel insureds and brokers • Secure appointments and submit itinerary before travel • Submit activity report with recommendations • Prepare and update inspection files • Submit Expense accounts timely • Set up appointments to visit Philadelphia office
• Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent experience • High school diploma required • Prior background in insurance and marketing essential, especially with regard to obtaining the Agents/Brokers Licenses required for the territory • Certification of successful completion of insurance studies (CPCU, CIC, AU, General Insurance, etc.) preferred • Computer literacy and ability to type reports • Valid drivers license and clean MVR • Ability to use camera equipment • Ability to deal effectively with a variety of different personalities • Ability to negotiate • Excellent organizational skills • Ability to manage time efficiently • Willingness to work irregular hours as the position requires • Ability to travel and stay overnight occasionally • Ability to hear • Ability to speak clearly • Ability to sit for extended periods of time • Ability to drive, and possession and maintenance of acceptable driving record • Ability to perform field surveys, mapping and plan work, including the ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, etc.
