• The Federal Group Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations and accounting functions for Prairie Band, LLC's federal contracting group. • This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with federal regulations, and effective financial management to support the organization’s goals. • Duties include: Oversee and manage the accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting. • Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). • Ensure compliance with federal regulations and guidelines, particularly those relevant to federal contracting. • Prepare and oversee the annual budget process, providing leadership in the development of short and long-term financial plans. • Monitor financial performance and ensure the accuracy of financial forecasts, variance analysis, and cost control measures. • Manage and oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes. • Ensure all statutory requirements of the organization are met including IRS regulations for federal and state income taxes. • Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance and safeguard assets. • Coordinate audits and prepare audit schedules, data, and information. • Provide financial analyses and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making. • Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax returns. • Collaborate with other department managers to support overall organizational goals and objectives. • Manage relationships with financial institutions, auditors, and other external partners. • Ensure that the accounting department staff is well-trained and mentored, providing ongoing training and development opportunities. • Maintain and enhance the accounting systems and processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy. • Support the preparation of financial information for contracts, grants, and proposals.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred. • Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role. • Strong knowledge of federal contracting regulations, including FAR and DFAR. • Experience with government contract accounting, including Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and DCAA compliance. • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • High attention to detail and organizational skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Experience with Deltek Costpoint or similar ERP systems is highly desirable.
